Welcome! I'm happy you're here! No matter how you got here, I hope you find what I've provided helpful. It may be a little slow at first to get all the things I've collected over the years posted, but if you're patient, you might just find something useful. I've decided to set the teacher part of my blog up by subject area, so if you're looking for information on teaching reading, or ESL (see SIOP), then look at the pull down menu under "For Teachers". While you wait for me to get it all together, here are some links you can check out to learn more about teaching writing.
GRETCHEN BERNABEI You'll hear me talk A LOT about Gretchen Bernabei. She is my writing HERO. I don't even know how to teach writing without all her wonderful ways! In fact, I'm sitting at one of her presentations RIGHT NOW!! I think this is my fifth time to see her in person, but it's just as great as the first time. I always learn new things from her and I get so inspired just by being in the same room with her--she's amazing!! She has two great sites for you to check out: trailofbreadcrumbs.net and http://bernabeiwritingtools.blogspot.com To see how I have taken her wonderful stuff (as well as wonderful things from Barry Lane), check out my Writing Strategies page for my students. I'm in the process of reorganizing my Pinterest boards too (phew--I'm pretty busy these days!). I have a few boards you may want to check out for ideas: Teaching Writing Teaching 3rd Grade writing School days--a whole slew of teachery things, but with some writing stuff sprinkled all over (this will be fixed soon!). There you go! Enjoy the Let me know if you have any questions, comments or suggestions! Come back soon for more updates! --Kayla |
